Biography

Dr. Alero Adjene obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Physiology and Pharmacology from University College London, United Kingdom, in 1997. She then completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Imperial College London, UK, in 2002. Dr. Adjene subsequently completed her specialist training in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Internal Medicine in the North-West Thames Deanery, London, UK, and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in 2014. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London, UK. 

Dr. Adjene serves as the Clinical Lead for the Adult Insulin Pump Clinic Service at Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC). She is also the Clinical Lead for the ICLDEC Structured Education Programme, designed to empower people living with Type 1 diabetes with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage their condition. In addition, Dr. Adjene is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for the ICLDEC Fellowship Training Programme, a Lecturer for the ICLDEC MRCP Examination Preparation Course, and a Lecturer and Clinical Trainer for the ICLDEC Diabetes Educator Course. She also served as the Clinical Director for the Healthy Athletes Programme of the Special Olympics. Dr. Adjene is SCOPE-certified by the World Obesity Federation, reflecting her commitment to advancing obesity management and education. 

Prior to joining Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), Dr. Adjene worked at Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, and Charing Cross Hospital, United Kingdom.

Dr. Adjene specialises in all aspects of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Medicine, including Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications, diabetes technology including insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and glucose sensors, weight management, medical obesity treatment and obesity-related complications, thyroid disorders including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules and goitres, diabetes and thyroid disorders in pregnancy, calcium and bone metabolism disorders including vitamin D deficiency, hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis and osteopenia, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), hypertension, lipid disorders, and cardiovascular risk management.
