Dr. Irfanulla Baig

Dr. Baig obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Medical Sciences, India, in 2002. He began practicing medicine in 2010 and has since developed extensive expertise in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, London), awarded in 2010, and subsequently achieved the Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes (SCE) in 2014. Dr. Baig was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, London) in 2021 and is SCOPE Certified in Obesity Management (2025). 

Dr. Baig has contributed significantly to clinical governance, medical education, and research throughout his career. He served as a Medicines Management Committee member representing the Department of Medicine at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, from 2017 to 2019. He was later appointed Trust Specialty Training Lead for Medicine and Royal College of Physicians Tutor at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust from 2019 to 2022. Dr. Baig has also been involved in research focusing on T-cell function and gene studies in Type 1 diabetes mellitus and serves as an MRCP PACES examiner. 

Prior to joining Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), Dr. Baig worked as Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, United Kingdom. 

Scope of Practice 

Dr. Baig’s scope of practice includes management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity, and endocrine disorders including thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, and hypogonadal conditions.
