Biography
Dr. Peter obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Kilpauk Medical College, Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He subsequently became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), UK, and was later awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), UK. Dr. Peter completed his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine through the West Midlands Deanery, United Kingdom. He is also SCOPE Certified in Obesity Management through the Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education programme. In 2026, Dr. Peter was conferred the title of Adjunct Assistant Professor at UAE University.
Dr. Peter has held several senior leadership positions throughout his career. He served as Clinical Lead for Endocrinology and Diabetes at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, from 2008 to 2011, where he established one of the largest community diabetes services in the UK and received the Best Project Award in 2016. He subsequently served as Associate Medical Director (Information Technology) from 2012 to 2015, leading the implementation of several transformative digital systems across the organisation, including clinical documentation, revalidation, and laboratory acknowledgement systems. From 2015 to 2023, Dr. Peter served as Care Group Director for Medicine, Emergency Department and Elderly Care at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust. He has also been recognised with seven Clinical Excellence Awards (CEA) in the United Kingdom for his contributions as a Consultant Physician.
Prior to joining Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), Dr. Peter worked as a Consultant Endocrinologist at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, from 2006 to 2023.
Scope of Practice
Dr. Peter’s scope of practice includes the management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications, including renal, neurological, and cardiovascular complications, insulin pump initiation and follow-up, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) initiation and follow-up, obesity and weight management, hyperlipidaemia and specialised lipid disorders, antenatal and gestational diabetes, general endocrinology including thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid and adrenal disorders, metabolic bone disease including osteoporosis, and refractory hypertension.

Dr. Peter’s field of expertise includes the management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications, insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, obesity and weight management, lipid disorders, antenatal and gestational diabetes, thyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, parathyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, erectile dysfunction, management of patients following endocrine surgery, and inpatient management of diabetes, including acute diabetes emergencies.
