Biography
Dr. Deshmukh began practicing medicine in 1994. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Nagpur, India.
He subsequently completed Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK) and underwent specialist training, achieving the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Diabetes and Endocrinology as well as CCT in General (Internal) Medicine. Dr. Deshmukh also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Bath, United Kingdom.
Dr. Deshmukh has extensive experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology, with a strong focus on complex metabolic and endocrine disorders. His clinical expertise includes leadership in diabetes technology, insulin therapy, and multidisciplinary metabolic care. He has a particular interest in advancing structured, patient-centred chronic disease management and integrating clinical governance with service development.
Prior to joining Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), Dr. Deshmukh served as Consultant Physician in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General (Internal) Medicine at Western General Hospital, Swindon, United Kingdom.
Scope of Practice
Dr. Deshmukh’s scope of practice includes management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus, complex diabetes and insulin resistance, diabetes in pregnancy and pre-conception planning, insulin pump therapy, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders, calcium, parathyroid and bone disorders, reproductive endocrinology including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), male hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction, and obesity and metabolic disease management.

Dr. Deshmukh’s field of expertise includes comprehensive diabetes care including diagnosis, risk stratification, individualised lifestyle and pharmacological management, insulin therapy and diabetes technology, prevention and management of complications, and endocrinology including pituitary, thyroid and adrenal disorders, calcium and bone metabolism disorders, endocrine hypertension, reproductive endocrinology, obesity and metabolic disease.
